Is The Map Shop part of a chain?
The Map Shop is an independent one-of-a-kind retail store located in downtown
Greenville, SC, since 1982.
In 1991, we opened a store in Charlotte, NC, and later sold it to one of our employees
there. (They're good folks.)
Scattered across the world are stores with similar names and some of the same products,
but we are each a little different, and { of course } The Map Shop is special!
Is everything in The Map Shop listed on this web page?
We stock almost 10,000 items, and this web page doesn't even contain the tip of the
iceberg. We're working on it, and hopefully every week you'll be able to see just a little
more.
Does The Map Shop just sell maps?
Not exactly. For instance, topo maps are complemented by map measurers and compasses
and books on map reading and all these lead naturally to trail maps which call for trail
guides and nature guides. On the other side of the store, the international travel maps go
hand in hand with the travel guides and language tapes and flags, which lead to flag mugs
and decals and keychains and t-shirts. You get the idea.
